Campus Visie
The future campus of 2040 can look several ways. Some people are looking for more student houses, others are looking for green and blue spaces. Some people want to expand south and create a new campus area in the untouched spaces whilst others want to repurpose and further develop the middle section, others again wanting to expand to other cities such as the Hague and Rotterdam.
There are many demands and wishes surrounding the future of the Technical University of Delft campus. CREFM attempts to gather these ideas and explain the complexity of this vision to several groups. To help them, the Gamelab developed a hands-on board game which allows players to assume the role of one of the stakeholders during a workshop and build their own future buildings using LEGO. During the game, players assemble their future campus. Targets and ambitions guide their choices so that they make sure there will be enough space for all future students, staff members, researchers, and companies.
Through discussion and exploration, the players create their vision of the campus based on the roles, rules, and resources. At the end of the workshop, players can adapt this vision to their personal preferences and ideas. In doing so, players experience the complexities of creating a vision at first and can explore and express their own vision at the end.
